Mobility
Often the first item used to assist with mobility is the walker or the rolling version of it, sometimes called the rollator. Our providers offer a variety of models of these items, all of which are made with safety, security, comfort and ease of use in mind.
The Invacare single-release walker comes in a variety of frame sizes and operates with a single release button that allows the walker to fold or open with ease. A 300-pound weight capacity is standard for these walkers which operate with minimal effort. The dual-release models provide both visual and audible “locked” cues and offer a similar range of width, depth and height adjustments. The company’s bariatric model will accommodate up to 700 pounds, while its hemi model is designed for patients with limited or no dexterity in one arm or hand. Accessories are available and include court-side glides, baskets, platform attachments and rear-wheel brakes.
Invacare’s rollators provide convenient mobility for many situations and are specially designed for stability and comfort when walking. Rollators provide the flexibility to carry out daily activities with less fatigue. The three-wheeled model comes with a tote bag and basket with food tray, while the four-wheeled models come additionally with easy-to-operate hand brakes and seats. All are designed to fold easily for transport. Baskets and trays are available as accessories.
An unusual item in the Invacare line is the Rollite. Affordable and lightweight, the Rollite has a flip-up seat with built-in handle, flexible backrest, ergonomic dual folding mechanism and hand brakes. Despite its innovative lightweight design, the Rollite has a 300-pound weight capacity.
Carex offers an extensive inventory of walkers and rollators, as well. Its standard adult walker has an ergonomic paddle that can be depressed with the palm of the hand for easy folding and unfolding and is available in a wider model for those who need the additional weight capacity and width. Their dual paddle models have five-inch wheels which make for easy, smooth movement as well as better stability and longer wear. Carex’s Explorer model comes with an organizer with multiple pockets and is one of the most easily adjustable models.
With its lockable hand brakes and padded seat and backrest, Carex’s top rolling walker provides comfort and safety for the user. Oversized wheels make the going even smoother. The company offers designer models with specially chosen fabrics and styles in its organizers. Accessories are available that include glides and baskets.
